Sam’l Smith Organic Raspberry Fruit Ale

18 Apr

This past weekend I found an awesome beer at Total Wine. It was only $5.99 for about a pint of Sam’l Smith Organic Raspberry Fruit Ale. This is probably one of the most delicious fruit ales i’ve tried. It’s similar to a lambic but not quite as sweet making it easier to drink more of it. It’s also stronger than a lambic in alcohol content. Lambics range in alcohol content, but the ones i’ve had are around 2%. This fruit ale is around 5% alcohol making it comparable to drinking a regular ale. It tastes like raspberries and everything good in life. If you don’t like the taste of beer you might enjoy this fruit ale because it basically tastes like fruit juice, probably because it is brewed with raspberry juice. On the bottle it says the brew is USDA certified organic so that always makes me feel better about my beer choice.

Wild Raspberry Ale

I love making your own six-pack at Total Wine. One of the staples that I always choose is The Great Divide’s Wild Raspberry Ale. It’s fermented with real red and black raspberries. It’s a beer that non-beer lovers could appreciate. As I’ve said before, I love fruity things so this definitely makes my list of favorites. On the bottle it says the beer has won Best of the Rockies summer 2007, Regional Champion summer 2004 and Regional champion summer 2003. I can see this being an enjoyable summer beer. The bottle even offers food pairings: spicy Mexican food, creamy blue cheese and fruit desserts. It’s light and refreshing; I would recommend everyone to try it once.
