Shipyard Emporium

25 Apr

Since I have to move out of my dorm by May 1 I decided there were a few things in Orlando that I wanted to do before I leave this city. On my list was “check out the Shipyard Emporium”, so I went there for dinner two nights ago. They have so many beers I wanted to try so I had to get a flight of four 4oz pours for $7.

I tried the Ommegang Belgian Pale Ale, Shipyard Fuggles IPA, Black n’ Blue and Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. The Black n’ Blue was by far my favorite. It’s a blend of their Blue Fin Stout and Sea Dog Blueberry that comes out to 5% alcohol by volume. It tasted just like chocolate covered blueberries in the best way possible; it was a perfect balance. The Vanilla Porter was 4.7% alcohol and tasted pretty delicious as well; it kind of had a cream soda after taste. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Shipyard Fuggles IPA. It was 5.8% alcohol and not really my style, but for consumers who enjoy a lightly hopped IPA then this is for you. The Ommegang Belgian Pale Ale tasted tropical and fruity. At 6.2% alcohol it was very light and smooth on the pallet.

I also got a pint of Coronado Orange Ave Wit to go with my dinner. It is brewed with California orange peel and orange blossom honey butter. At 5.2% alcohol I would choose this over Blue Moon any day. It is less sweet and more orange flavored.

Whether you are looking for some good eats or just some delicious beers and are in the Winter Park area, be sure to check out the Shipyard Emporium. They have something for everyone.
