Mississippi Mud

27 Jan

If you’ve missed me, i’ve been giving my liver a bit of a break lately. I came across this great find a couple days ago that I have to share with you. I was eating dinner at Lazy Moon and decided to take a stroll to Shamrock liquors afterward to see if anything sparked my interest. When there is 1 quart of beer staring at you for only $2.99 you don’t say no because even if it tastes bad you didn’t break the bank. Mississippi Mud is 1 quart of black and tan porter and pilsner.

For those of you who don’t know what a black and tan is, let me enlighten you. It’s basically a half pale ale and half stout or porter. The classic usually includes Guinness as the porter. The back of the bottle says, “Dating back to the 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the ‘Black & Tan’ a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries.” The Mississippi brewing company is located in New York and i’m assuming the pilsner and porter they use are their own.

I’m not sure what the alcohol content is on this bad boy but it give you 2 pints and regular beers work of drink. It tastes like chocolate coffee. I have a feeling this beer would go great with ice cream or as a desert beer after a meal.
